For all the controversy caused in India by naming the film based on the novel Q&A as Slumdog Millionaire, it shows the hype created by the media and the short term memory of its readers when the Indian media keeps referring to Rubina Ali and Azharuddin Mohammed as Slumdog Kids.

Ironic, don’t you think?

of serena williams, tennis and the working mother

Much has been said about Serena’s outburst and abuse of the poor lineswoman at the US Open 2009 semi-final match. Serena was way out of line abusing a lineswoman and the language she used is unpardonable. When I see people swear, casually or not, I flinch. I don’t like it. I don’t swear. For me stupid is a bad enough word! Forget the expletives. When I see someone swearing, I judge them. I don’t understand the rationale that “swearing helps me let my frustration out” Really? I don’t see how. Someone please explain it to me. I see it as plain bad manners. Foul language is not acceptable.

Serena was plain frustrated that Kim Cljisters was outplaying her and the foot fault call just tipped her over the edge. In her apology, she said, she is a very inense and emotional person. But lets give it to her that she eventually apologized. Serena has always been a little snobbish from what I have seen of her and humility is a virtue she is beginning to learn.

What can be said about Kim Cljisters that hasn’t already been said? She is terrific! I was upset when she retired as I had always loved to watch her play. She can run, stretch and play the ball like there is no tomorrow! I am glad she has come back and its an especially sweet return now that she is a mom and a symbol for working mothers everywhere! You rock girl!

DelPo outshined Federer. Federer seemed to have given up in the last set, very unlike him. I hope he comes back next year to reclaim his US Open title from 2008. Not to be left behind, please give a round of applause for the working dad too, shall we?
